Even when Tiger Woods gave up on Tiger Woods, where he confided in family and friends that he was giving up as a competitive golfer a few years ago, Joe LaCava was the last man standing as the caddie for Tiger Woods. He believed that there was still more magic to be shared on Sundays with his phenomenal employer. He also through that what occurred at the Masters last month was more likely than not. He never doubted that Tiger Woods would win again and even told his wife, Megan, on numerous occasions.
Tiger Woods and the LaCava Family
Megan recalled the darkest times of the extended Joe-and-Tiger layoff this week, growing emotional just thinking of the blind faith her husband had. The back problems that Tiger Woods had started back in 2014 during spring. Three years later, he had his 4th back surgery that must have seemed like a desperate act to enjoy some quality time with his kids.
Joe LaCava caddied for Tiger Woods only a few dozen times over four years. So Joe kept himself busy by watching high school football games of his son and high school softball games of his daughter. He also decided to paint a few rooms in the house and complete some unfinished projects around the house while driving his wife to college or helping out with laundry and dishes. However, apart from his daily routine, he waited for one person more than anything else. Joe LaCava stated that he would have quickly expected a century if he had to.
Megan LaCava was a sales manager at an apparel store for women and stated that she wasn’t worried at all about her family or her husband. This is because Tiger Woods was extremely generous towards his caddie during the period where he was on layoff. However, Megan was worried when it came to Tiger Woods and continuously wondered if the professional golfer would ever get back to full strength to play in another golf tournament.
So, here the two are finally together again in Bethpage at the PGA Championship, the two-time Master champion caddie along with the five-time Masters champion. LaCava managed to win the Augusta National in 1992 with Fred Couples. LaCava, who is currently 55 years old, was introduced to millions of viewers in April to spectators who weren’t honestly golf fans but who were stunned by the remarkable comeback from Tiger Woods.
These spectators had no idea that LaCava has managed to play a significant role in countless people crying once Tiger Woods, a player broke as both a man and an athlete, managed to win his first Masters in 14 years along with his first major win in 11 years. LaCava was hired in 2011 for Tiger Woods and managed to bring humanity to the professional golfer, something that Steve Williams didn’t provide at all while he was caddying for Tiger Woods.
