Williams F1 Sold to Dorilton Capital

The Williams Formula One Team has officially been sold, marking an end of an unforgettable era. This formidable team was found by Sir Frank Williams & Sir Patrick Head, sustaining decades as a family-operated brand. Declines in their regular contention for champion victory disappeared when Sir Frank Williams retired, handing ownership over to Claire Williams. After years of his daughter destroying an unforgettable legacy, it’s been decided that the Formula One team will be sold to Dorilton Capital. This American investment firm began discussions with Williams F1 in May 2020, winning the contract after multiple other parties didn’t prove viable for what Sir Frank Williams desired in this sale. Dorilton Capital was the exclusive party to guarantee the survival of Williams F1 with it’s inherent ties to family.

Dorilton Capital released a formal statement on the purchasing of Williams F1, where they’d clarify their recognition & appreciation of the importance that this brand holds in retaining their heritage. Dorilton Capital noted its commitment to maintaining the culture & identity of Williams F1, which has been known to worldwide supporters for decades. This means that the racing team will continue to compete under the Williams branding at F1 Grand Prix’s.

This American investment firm is also allowing for the Williams manufacturing facility to remain in Grove, Great Britain. This ensures that positions held by employed personnel for decades won’t be lost. Williams F1 emphasized their decision was made in correlation with support from the Board of Directors, which included the Head of Directors, Sir Frank Williams. This also means that Toto Wolff from Mercedes AMG-Petronas agreed in the selling of this Formula One team.

Claire Williams Reacts

Reactions regarding this sale were also given by Claire Williams, the Deputy Team Principal of her father’s F1 team. She noted that this decision was made after strategic reviews proved it’d be beneficial towards the team’s regrowth. Claire Williams emphasized that Dorilton Capital shares the same values & passion as her father and herself. It should be mentioned that it’s not known if Claire Williams will continue as Deputy Team Principal. Dorilton Capital would find benefits in revoking her position with Williams F1.
